How to Filter Discord Stream Notifications by Game or Title
To filter Discord stream notifications, open the Streamlinx dashboard, go to a streamer's settings, and add filter rules in the Notifications tab. Filter rules are a Premium feature that lets you control exactly which streams trigger notifications based on the game being played or keywords in the stream title.
What Are Filter Rules?
Filter rules let you include or exclude notifications based on conditions. Instead of getting notified every time a streamer goes live, you can narrow it down to specific games, categories, or title keywords.
For example:
- Only notify when a streamer plays Valorant or Fortnite
- Exclude notifications when the title contains "Just Chatting"
- Only notify when the title includes "tournament" or "ranked"
Step 1: Add Streamlinx to Your Discord Server
Visit the invite page and add the bot to your Discord server.
Step 2: Open the Dashboard
Go to the Streamlinx dashboard, log in with Discord, and select your server.
Step 3: Select a Streamer
Choose the streamer you want to add filter rules to. They must already be added to your server.
Step 4: Add Filter Rules
- Go to the Notifications tab in the streamer's settings
- Click Add Filter Rule
- Choose the filter type:
- Game / Category — Match based on the game or category being streamed
- Title — Match based on keywords in the stream title
- Choose the match mode:
- Matches — Notify only when the condition is true (include filter)
- Does not match — Notify for everything except when the condition is true (exclude filter)
- Enter the value to match against
Filter Logic: OR vs AND
When you have multiple filter rules, you control how they combine:
- OR mode (default) — A notification is sent if any rule matches. Use this when you want notifications for multiple games: "Notify for Valorant OR Fortnite OR Apex Legends."
- AND mode — A notification is sent only if all rules match. Use this for tighter control: "Notify only when game is Valorant AND title contains 'ranked'."
Set the filter mode in the streamer's notification settings.
Examples
Only Valorant Streams
Add one rule:
- Type: Game / Category
- Mode: Matches
- Value:
Valorant
Result: Notifications only fire when the streamer is playing Valorant.
Exclude Just Chatting
Add one rule:
- Type: Title
- Mode: Does not match
- Value:
Just Chatting
Result: Notifications fire for all streams except those with "Just Chatting" in the title.
Tournament Streams Only
Add two rules in AND mode:
- Rule 1: Game / Category — Matches —
Valorant - Rule 2: Title — Matches —
tournament
Result: Notifications only fire when the streamer is playing Valorant and the title includes "tournament."
Filter Rules Apply to All Notification Types
Filter rules apply globally to the streamer — they affect live, offline, clip, and upload notifications. If a game filter excludes a stream, clips from that stream are also excluded.
Filter rules require a Premium subscription. Free servers cannot add filter rules. Premium allows up to 5 filter rules per streamer.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many filter rules can I add?
Premium allows up to 5 filter rules per streamer. Each rule can be a game/category filter or a title keyword filter.
Do filters work with Twitch, YouTube, and Kick?
Yes. Filter rules work with all three platforms. Game/category filters match whatever game or category the platform reports.
Can I filter clips separately from live notifications?
No. Filter rules apply globally to the streamer. If a filter excludes a stream, clip notifications from that stream are also excluded.
What happens if no rules match?
If you have filter rules set to "matches" and none of them match the current stream, no notification is sent. If you have no filter rules at all, all streams trigger notifications.
