How to Get Automatic Twitch Clip Notifications in Discord

To get automatic Twitch clip notifications in Discord, add Streamlinx to your server, add a Twitch streamer in the web dashboard, and enable clip notifications in the Content tab. Clip alerts are free on all tiers.

What Are Clip Notifications?

When a viewer creates a clip from a tracked Twitch streamer's broadcast, Streamlinx automatically sends a notification to your Discord server. Each clip alert includes the clip title, who created it, what game was being played, the clip duration, and a direct link to watch.

This is fully automated — no one needs to manually share clips. As soon as a clip is created on Twitch, your Discord community sees it.

Step 1: Add Streamlinx to Your Discord Server

Visit the invite page and add the bot to your Discord server. Streamlinx only needs basic permissions to send messages and embed links.

Step 2: Open the Dashboard

Go to the Streamlinx dashboard, log in with Discord, and select your server.

Step 3: Add a Twitch Streamer

Click Add Streamer and select Twitch as the platform. Search for the streamer by their Twitch username and choose a notification channel.

Step 4: Enable Clip Notifications

  1. Open the streamer's settings in the dashboard
  2. Go to the Content tab
  3. Toggle Clip Notifications on
  4. Optionally set a custom clip message template
  5. Optionally select a Content Notification Channel to route clip alerts to a different channel than live notifications

Done

Streamlinx will now send a Discord notification every time a viewer creates a clip from this streamer's broadcast.

Display Controls

In the Content tab, you can customize how clip embeds look:

  • Show clip thumbnail — Toggle the thumbnail image in the embed (enabled by default)

Route Clips to a Separate Channel

If you want clip notifications in a different channel than live notifications, set a Content Notification Channel in the Content tab. This applies to both clip and upload notifications (for YouTube streamers).

Clip Cooldowns (Premium)

Premium users can set an independent clip cooldown (1–1440 minutes) in the Advanced tab. This prevents notification spam when multiple clips are created in quick succession. The clip cooldown is completely independent of the live notification cooldown, so each notification type operates on its own timer.

Free Feature

Clip notifications are included on all tiers at no extra cost.

Tips

Combine with Live Notifications

Most servers enable both live and clip notifications for the same streamer. The live alert tells your community the streamer is online, and clip notifications surface the best moments from the broadcast in real time.

Clip Notifications Work with Filter Rules

Premium filter rules apply to all notification types including clips. If you've set a game filter (e.g., only Valorant), clips from other games won't trigger notifications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need Premium for clip notifications?

No. Clip notifications are free on all tiers. Premium adds independent clip cooldowns and notification filter rules, but the core clip notification feature is available to everyone.

How fast do clip alerts arrive?

Clip notifications are delivered shortly after a clip is created on Twitch. There may be a short delay depending on how quickly Twitch surfaces the clip data.

Can I route clips to a different channel than live alerts?

Yes. Set a Content Notification Channel in the Content tab to separate clip notifications from live notifications. This is useful if your server prefers clips in a dedicated highlights channel.

Do clip notifications work with all Twitch streamers?

Yes. Any Twitch streamer you track with Streamlinx can have clip notifications enabled, regardless of the streamer's size or partner status.

Can I customize the clip notification message?

Yes. Use template variables like {clipper}, {title}, {game}, and {duration} to build a custom clip notification message. Discord markdown formatting is supported.
