How to Get YouTube Video Upload Notifications in Discord (Free)

To get YouTube upload notifications in Discord, add Streamlinx to your server, add a YouTube channel in the dashboard, and enable upload notifications in the Content tab. This feature is completely free on all tiers.

Why Upload Notifications?

YouTube's notification bell is unreliable — many subscribers never see upload alerts. Streamlinx solves this by posting a Discord notification every time a tracked channel uploads a new video. Your community always knows when new content drops.

Upload notifications are separate from live stream alerts. You can enable both, or just one — each has its own template, channel, and cooldown settings.

Step 1: Add Streamlinx to Your Discord Server

Visit the invite page and add the bot to your Discord server. Streamlinx only needs basic permissions to send messages and embed links.

Step 2: Open the Dashboard

Go to the Streamlinx dashboard, log in with Discord, and select your server.

Step 3: Add a YouTube Channel

Click Add Streamer and select YouTube as the platform. Enter the channel's @handle (like @MrBeast) or their legacy username.

Step 4: Enable Upload Notifications

  1. Open the YouTube streamer's settings in the dashboard
  2. Go to the Content tab
  3. Toggle Enable upload notifications on
  4. Optionally toggle Exclude YouTube Shorts (enabled by default) to filter out videos 60 seconds or shorter
  5. Customize the upload message template
  6. Optionally select a Content Notification Channel to route upload alerts to a different channel than live notifications

Done

Streamlinx will notify your Discord server every time this YouTube channel uploads a new video.

Upload Template Variables

Customize your upload notification messages with these variables:

VariableDescriptionExample
{streamer}Channel display nameMrBeast
{username}Channel handle@MrBeast
{title}Video titleI Built 100 Houses
{url}Direct link to the videohttps://youtube.com/watch?v=...
{duration}Video duration12:34
{description}Video description excerpt (first 200 characters)In this video...

Shorts Filtering

By default, Streamlinx excludes YouTube Shorts (videos 60 seconds or shorter) from upload notifications. This prevents Shorts-heavy channels from spamming your notification channel.

You can toggle this off in the Content tab if you want to receive notifications for all uploads including Shorts.

Route Uploads to a Separate Channel

Set a Content Notification Channel in the Content tab to send upload notifications to a different Discord channel than live stream alerts. For example, send live alerts to #live-now and upload notifications to #new-videos.

Upload Cooldowns (Premium)

Premium users can set a separate cooldown for upload notifications in the Advanced tab. This prevents rapid-fire notifications if a channel publishes multiple videos in a short period. The upload cooldown is independent of the live notification cooldown.

Free Feature

Upload notifications are completely free — no Premium subscription required.

Tips

Combine with Live Notifications

Most servers enable both live and upload notifications for YouTube channels. Live alerts cover broadcasts, and upload notifications cover new video releases — together, your community never misses any content.

Works Alongside Twitch and Kick

Streamlinx supports all three platforms. You can track a creator's YouTube uploads, Twitch streams, and Kick broadcasts all in one Discord server, each routed to different channels.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this really free?

Yes. YouTube upload notifications are included on all tiers at no extra cost. Premium adds upload cooldowns and filter rules, but the core upload notification feature is free.

Can I filter out YouTube Shorts?

Yes. The "Exclude YouTube Shorts" toggle is enabled by default and filters out videos 60 seconds or shorter. You can turn it off if you want to receive notifications for Shorts as well.

Can uploads go to a different channel than live alerts?

Yes. Set a Content Notification Channel in the Content tab. This separates upload notifications from live stream alerts so your server stays organized.

How quickly do upload notifications arrive?

Upload notifications are delivered within a few minutes of a new video being published, depending on how quickly YouTube surfaces the upload data.

What information is included in upload notifications?

Upload notifications include the video title, channel name, video duration, a description excerpt, and a direct link to the video. You can customize the message template with variables like {title}, {duration}, and {description}.
